Reyna Machado is a drummer and composer from California who has played in versatile settings. From the young age of 4 years old, she began learning how to play the drums as she was surrounded by other musicians, and most importantly, growing up in a diverse music household. She was the first drummer in her family who was surrounded by vocalists and guitarists, and began playing with her family band at the age of 14. Growing up, she listened to regional Latin, R&B/soul, funk, and rock and continues to perform in those genres and styles.

She leverages Jazz in her compositions to form a modern outlook on music with the genres she knows from her background. She is able to draw audiences from young ages to older groups due to her versatility. No matter where Reyna performs, she focuses on how she can get the audience to feel the atmosphere and put their minds into a sound state. She adapts to the venue, any hall or room and makes it into her own unique sound and makes sure there is energy at each performance.

She is currently at the Eastman School of Music studying Jazz Performance for her Masters in Rochester, New York and much like in her undergrad at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Jazz has secured a framework that she uses when playing and composing. Reyna is passionate about the music she creates and is always searching for new ways to implement sounds and elements to incorporate in compositions. Most importantly, she honors those who came before her by performing their works and branching off their ideas to fit what makes her own ideas unique. Her goal is to create a new genre or style of music that reflects who she is as an artist.
